The Argentine harvest is looking very good and the weather conditions were favorable, with good temperatures, so Salix plans to supply quality pears throughout the season.

The start of the season was with the Williams Bartlett, which is the main early variety.“Some producers began to harvest in the second week this season to reach the markets soon, but there were also producers who waited until week 3 to have larger calibers,” explains Javier Orti.

Williams Bartlett is medium to large in size, with a thin and delicate skin, light green in color that turns to an attractive yellow at maturity, sometimes with a pink tint on the face exposed to the sun, with white and creamy pulp.

The largest markets for Argentine pears are Brazil and Russia, which make up approximately 60% of the exported volume. Then North America and Europe / UK account for around 15% of volume each. The remaining volume goes mainly to other Latin American countries, and to a lesser extent to Israel, the Middle East and China.
