Salix Fruits' participation in Asia Fruit Logistica 2023 exceeded expectations

The leading company in the import and export of fresh fruits, has been a consistent exhibitor since 2016.
The significance of this Asian market for Salix Fruits is undeniable, as the company is on the verge of opening an office in Singapore.

Salix Fruits' participation in Asia Fruit Logistica 2023, the premier exhibition for fresh fruit and vegetable marketing in Asia that took place in Hong Kong during the first week of September, exceeded expectations.

“It was a pleasure to return to Hong Kong in an atmosphere reminiscent of previous years, with the added participation of Chinese companies that couldn't attend the previous year. The fair was bustling for Salix Fruits, and the prevailing sentiment was that additional days could have been scheduled for meetings given the abundance of friends, customers, and suppliers in attendance”, says Javier Orti, Sales Manager Asia with Salix Fruits.

“Although inclement weather posed some challenges and led to the fair's cancellation on Friday, everyone worked diligently to reschedule meetings either in the airport area or within the city. Overall, it was a successful fair”, shares Orti.

The leading company in the import and export of fresh fruits has been a consistent exhibitor at Asia Fruit Logistica since 2016, except for the year 2020 when the fair transitioned to a virtual format due to the pandemic, and 2021. This ongoing participation underscores Salix Fruits' commitment to the Asian market and its dedication to nurturing enduring business relationships in the region.

Regarding trends, Salix Fruit’s Sales Manager observed that China's remarkable growth in fresh produce supply stands out. Different grape varieties continue to dominate the markets, alongside citrus fruits, apples, and stone fruits. Salix Fruits sees substantial potential for increasing volumes from countries such as Egypt, India, and Turkey in the short term. The significance of the Asian market for Salix Fruits is undeniable, and as a testament to this commitment, the company is on the verge of opening an office in Singapore. This market has undergone a significant transformation in terms of products and origins in recent years, making it crucial to have a diverse range of sourcing options.

“Apart from our well-established and growing business in India, one core area for growth will be South East Asia driven by Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, plus Thailand and Vietnam of course. Then China and Hong Kong have the highest potential for volume programs, plus Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan”, says Orti.

Salix Fruits' products that enjoy significant presence in Asia include grapes from various sources, citrus fruits, apples, pomegranates, and air shipments such as cherries, berries, and stone fruits. Particularly, this year has witnessed strong demand for donut peaches through air shipments.

The company looks forward to further strengthening its presence in the Asian market and contributing to the continued growth and development of the fresh fruit and vegetable industry in the region. The company is pleased to remain a trusted partner and a leading supplier of quality fresh produce in the Asian market.
