On a trip to Morocco!

In early January, Luis Elortondo, our Sourcing Director, visited several Moroccan companies that are worth knowing.

It is the beginning of a series of trips that aim to turn Salix Fruits into a company that imports citrus in the USA and not just lemons.
Why Morocco? Because this country is, for mandarins, what Turkey is for lemons. It´s excellent agro, climatie, and labor conditions make it an ideal place.

Morocco

One of the companies we were with is a private agricultural company, the # 2 in Morocco in citrus production. Its location is unbeatable: in a valley between the sea and the mountain that produces the best quality in the country. Their Navel and Valencia oranges, and one seeded fruits have a superior quality!

Other of the companies visited surprised us, not only for being a family business of a doctor who inherited his father's business and now runs his young son, who is very professional and friendly, but also for his plantation of Nadorcott tangerines (an easy-peeler seedless variety of excellent quality, delicious and very good looking) and its lemons Eureka that left us impressed.

We will definitely tell you news about Morocco very soon.
